Magpie was established in 1998 by Cape Craft Icon Scott B. Hart  and Social Entrepreneur Shane A. Petzer (Ashoka Fellow)

 In 2003 Magpie relocated from Cape Town to our Studio and Gallery space in Barrydale, Western Cape.

The work we do links art, design and craft with meaningful  commercial and social entrepreneurism, integrated with environmental concern. Our whimsical, charming and bespoke creations are produced from a broad range of medium and often incorporate repurposed, found, memorabilia or recycled elements.
